Dr. Kenneth Cumming

Dr. Kenneth Cumming teaches science lab courses.  His education includes a B.S. from Tufts University and an  M.A. and PhD from  Harvard University.  Dr. Cumming served for many years as the Dean of the Institute for Creation Research.

Rev. Kenneth Gillming

Ken Gillming came to Boston Baptist College in the summer of 2008. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Theology from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, and holds a Masters Degree in History from Missouri State University. Ken taught at Baptist Bible College in Springfield MO for 15 years in a part-time capacity. He has a wealth of ministry experience  from  serving the Cherry Street Baptist Church for 31 years. He served as Youth Pastor, College Pastor, Assistant Pastor and Senior Pastor.

Ken and Shirley have three children; Kenny (serving as Student Pastor of Napa Valley Baptist Church in Napa Valley CA) married to Monique (two grandsons); Mark who was killed in a car accident on October 8, 2000;  and Heather who is married to Jared Kirk (Student Pastor of Next Level Church in Charlotte NC).

Rev. David Melton

After nine years of administrative service to Boston Baptist College, Rev. David Melton was named the third president of the college in July 2005. He has served churches in New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Missouri and Massachusetts, and has served in chaplain capacities for colleges, universities, and a major league baseball team. Melton is the founding pastor of the MetroWest Baptist Church, a growing congregation in Wellesley, Massachusetts, where he continues to lead a thriving church family in Boston’s western suburbs. Melton is a nationally-known speaker and keeps a busy schedule in churches, colleges and conferences.

As an academic, President Melton continues to teach each semester, focusing on his dual interests in the ongoing research into the historical Jesus, as well as the nature and mission of the New Testament churches in the Greco-Roman world. His academic preparation includes degrees from New England Baptist College, the University of Oklahoma and the Harvard Divinity School. He has done additional graduate research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem as well as Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

Melton and his wife, Kim, live in Wellesley, Massachusetts, with their four sons. Their family not only enjoys the college and church life together, but keeps an incredibly active family schedule as well. David is a Little League Dad, a history buff, loves to travel in Europe, a poor but aspiring golfer, a dyed-in-the-wool Boston Red Sox fan, and an avid reader. Kim, his best friend and wife, travels with him when she can, and holds down the home front with the boys, Dave, Samuel, Matthew and Joshua.

Mrs. Kimberly Melton

Mrs. Melton is an alumnae of Boston Baptist College and annually teaches an English course in the Program for Academic Success for students who need additional help getting ready for college level composition.

Dr. Gary Parker

Biologist Dr. Gary Parker—along with his wife, Mary—was with Answers in Genesis as senior lecturer since AiG’s first year (1994, and remained full-time until 1999). Dr. Parker was also the head of the science department at Clearwater Christian College (CCC) in Florida. For twelve years, he served on the science faculty of the Institute for Creation Research (ICR) in the San Diego area.

Dr. Parker began his teaching career as a non-Christian and evolutionist. The details of his spiritual and scientific conversion, From Evolution to Creation (available as a booklet and DVD), include comic incidents. For example, he was a participant in a debate where his science department, defending the Bible, debated the Bible department, which was defending evolution!

En route to his B.A. in Biology/Chemistry, M.S. in Biology/Physiology, and Ed.D. in Biology/Geology from Ball State, Dr. Parker earned several academic awards, including admission to Phi Beta Kappa (the national scholastic honorary), election to the American Society of Zoologists (for his research on tadpoles), and a fifteen-month fellowship award from the National Science Foundation. He has published five programmed textbooks in biology and six books in creation science (the latter translated into a total of eight languages), has appeared in numerous films and television programs, and has lectured worldwide on creation.

Rev. Mike Patterson

Professor Mike Patterson has taught at Boston Baptist College since 1989. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Theology from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, and holds a Masters Degree in History from Missouri State University where he was a recipient of Missouri State University’s Chairman’s Award for best seminar paper in 1988 and is a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honors society. Mike has had extensive teaching experience, having taught at two Christian schools in Georgia from 1973-1983 and at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri before coming to Boston. He and his wife Elly have three children, Laura, Todd, and Beth. Elly Patterson is the Business manager and Dean of Women at Boston Baptist College.

Dr. Rodney Price

Dr. Rodney Price has pastored several churches and, at the same time, worked in Bible colleges for more than thirty years. He has previously served as both the business manager and the dean of students at Boston Baptist College. Dr. Price received a Bachelor of Theology degree from Baptist Bible Seminary in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, where he also earned an MM, and later returned for a D Min. He also earned an MA in Urban Studies from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.

Mrs. Marcia Rosenthal

Marcia Rosenthal is a Professor of Communications at Boston Baptist College. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Emerson College with a degree in Performing Arts and Speech Education. Marcia also completed her Masters of Science at Emerson College in Communication Disorders and is a certified Speech and Language Pathologist and a Member of the American Speech and Hearing Association.

In addition to her work at Boston Baptist College, Marcia works for the City of Newton Public Schools as a Speech and Language Pathologist for young children with special needs.

Marcia shares her time living with her family in Newton, Massachusetts and Cape Elizabeth, Maine. She and her husband, Mark, have four sons. Watching her boys grow up to be such fine young men has been the highlight of Marcia's life. Marcia enjoys participating in many sports including skiing, surfing, and horseback riding.

Mrs. Karen Sawyer

Mrs. Karen Sawyer earned a BA in Biology from Converse College and an MA in Social Work from the University of South Carolina. After 20 years of private practice in the fields of social work and counseling, she now teaches counseling courses and coordinates the Biblical Counseling Minor.

Dr. Bill Smith

Dr. Bill Smith, an adjunct faculty member teaches Speaking From the Scriptures, a course designed to prepare students to present God’s Word biblically, clearly and with relevancy. In addition to his current course, Bill has also taught homiletics and church administration at Boston Baptist beginning in 2001.

Dr. Smith is also pastor of Temple Baptist Church in W. Bridgewater, MA. He has served as senior pastor for 27 years in Massachusetts, leading Temple Baptist for the past 22 years.  Bill received his Doctor of Ministry degree, in the track “From the Study to the Pulpit” at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Hamilton, MA in 2010.

Bill and his wife Terry have four daughters and have been married for over 32 years. They love ministry, traveling and just being together.

Mr. Phil Smith

Mr. Philip Smith earned a BS in Biology from St. Joseph’s College and a Masters of Business Administration from Bryant College. He is a businessman who deals with math issues on a daily basis. This makes him uniquely qualified to teach math courses at Boston Baptist College.

Mr. Fred Tatro

Mr. Fred Tatro heads up all of the library services at Boston Baptist College. He earned a BS in Business Management from Southeastern Massachusetts University and an MA in Library Sciences from the University of Rhode Island. Mr. Tatro has been the librarian at Boston Baptist College for more than twenty-five years.

Rev. Randy Ward

Rev. Randall Ward took the position of Vice President for Operations in July, 2005. Ward spent several years on the staff of High Street Baptist Church, Springfield, Missouri, where he served as Singles Pastor and, eventually, Executive Pastor. Rev. Ward earned a degree in Accounting from Southwest Missouri State University, and a Master of Divinity degree from Baptist Bible College Graduate School.

Rev. Ward and his wife, Kelly, have four children: Gabriel, Rachel, Gracyn, and Hannah.

Rev. Phil Webber

Rev. Phil Webber brings years of pastoral ministry experience to Boston Baptist College. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri and a Master of Arts in Religion from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia. After 26 years of pastoral ministry in Wichita, Kansas and San Angelo, Texas, Rev. Webber joined the faculty of Boston Baptist College in July, 2012. He is married to Wendi and they have two boys at home, Wes and Kyle, and one married daughter, Bailey.
